ROOTED

ABOUT
We went to areas surrounding St. John’s and other communities such as Brigus, Cape spear Gros Mourne, Gander, Corner Brook, Tablelands, L’Anse Aux Meadows.
ROOTED is the expansion of TABB's winter 2024 initiative to document black people in different spaces across St. John's as a declaration that black people are Newfoundlanders and this is equally our home. ROOTED is a cultural and artistic exploration that brings Black artists, models, and community members together to create visual narratives about belonging, heritage, and identity in Newfoundland. This traveling project takes us to iconic Newfoundland locations, where we capture and celebrate Black stories against the province's breathtaking landscapes. ROOTED is driven by a commitment to showcase Black identity within a uniquely Newfoundland context, adding depth to the understanding of home and place through an artistic lens.
